Matt, Mr. Cool, is the rebel of the group. He is a bit of a loner, preferring to do things his own way and needing his own space. He often goes off to play his harmonica. Despite this, he is endowed with the Crest of Friendship. His desire to do things his own way often causes tension between him and Tai, and fights often break out between them.

Matt, an 11-year old boy, is in grade 5 at Odaiba Elementary. He's trained in the martial arts. He's TK's older brother. Matt lives with his father who is a news reporter. He doesn't live with TK because their parents are divorced 3 years ago. Because of this, Matt doesn't spend much time with TK and is very protective of him.

In Digimon 02, Matt is in Junior High Grade 2 (grade 8). He's decided to grow his hair longer, and is the lead singer in an amateur band. He apparently has many fans (surprise, surprise ^_^), including Daisuke's sister.
